A Make Over

Tim and I had a big day yesterday. We have been wanting to do a few things in our living room for quite sometime and we finally took the first big steps. We bought much needed new couches and a new TV.

I took the entertainment center that the TV used to be in and made it a "storage" cabinet.

We still plan to paint the living room this spring/summer and will replace the sliding glass doors {that I kicked a hole in...another story} at that time too.  We are painting the living room, entry way, hallway, and kitchen Martha Stewart's heavy cream.

We also are planning to paint our bedroom, bathroom and the guest bedroom. But we haven't quite decided on those colors yet. I'll be sure to let yall know when we do though!

New Music

About 3-4 weeks ago I was reading Southern Living online and came across their pick for "Best New Southern Musician". Their pick was a singer/songwriter by the name of Sarah Jarosz. I had never heard of her, but they described her music as "Captivating stories told to a sonic blend of Americana and contemporary bluegrass. This banjo/octave mandolin/guitar/piano-playing songbird is being hailed the next Patty Griffin." I was more than intrigued to say the least, so I went to iTunes and downloaded her album, Song Up In Her Head.

Let me tell you........It is fabulous!!! Sarah is only 20 years old and so incredibly talented! Not only did she write 11 out of the 13 songs, she plays the claw-hammer banjo, mandolin, guitar, piano, and sings.  And she was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for Best Country Instrumental.

All this to say, if you like bluegrass, country music, and really talent new artist, you will love Sarah Jarosz. Check her out!!

Snow Day 2

As expected, all the snow {and any melted snow} from yesterday froze overnight. Therefore, we are at home again today with Snow Day #2. So far the dogs are driving us nuts. :) They love the snow, as you already saw} but it is currently 18 degrees outside. Tim and I do not love 18 degrees. But we will make it down to the park shortly and we'll have some pictures to share with everyone when we come back.

A Great Weekend

Despite the crazy weather we've been having lately, Tim and I had a wonderful weekend! We started off Friday night with dinner at our neighbors house, Jason and Kim. It was a great time getting to know them better and enjoying a wonderful dinner. Jason and Kim moved here from TX probably 6-9 months ago. They have already had quite an adventure in Memphis so far. Hopefully they will stick around and see what else Memphis has to offer.

Saturday my sweet sweet husband let me sleep in to 9:00!!!! In our house of 4 dogs, 2 of them being puppies, that is a huge feat in itself. But then my sweet husband woke me up with breakfast in bed! Eggs, biscuits, sausage, and coffee. Who needs Valentine's Day?!
After a wonderful breakfast in bed, I was scheduled for a much needed haircut. We spent the rest of the day running errands. We got quite a bit accomplished and felt pretty productive. Then Saturday night we had dinner at the best Mexican restaurant in town....Las Delicious with 2 of our best couple friends. We of course had to top the night off with dessert at YoLo.

We finished the weekend off with a traditional Supper Bowl party with pizza, beer, chips & dip, veggies, and some delicious cookies!
Now it's back to business as usual. Another Monday....at least this one started out with some snow! Hope you all have a good week!

The Flu

i've had the flu this week and it's not fun. and to add insult to injury, tuesday night when i began feeling sick, i was cooking dinner and a speck of grease popped into my right eyeball. yes, i said eyeball. it burned. therefore wednesday morning i made 2 doctor's appointments. one with my eye doctor and one with my internist. the eye doctor said yes, indeed i do have a small burn on my eyeball but it was not bad {thankfully} and gave me some eye drops for relief. with that issue out of the way i continued on to the internist. after waiting for over an hour {and finishing a great book by Dean Koontz} my fever spiked again and the doctor ascertained that i have the flu.
so here i am with tamiflu, an antibiotic that i cannot pronounce, cough drops, ibuprofen, and a lot of water! hopefully this will blow over soon enough. i saw that we are supposed to have excellent weather this weekend. i sure would hate to be trapped in the bed all weekend!
