The Flu

i've had the flu this week and it's not fun. and to add insult to injury, tuesday night when i began feeling sick, i was cooking dinner and a speck of grease popped into my right eyeball. yes, i said eyeball. it burned. therefore wednesday morning i made 2 doctor's appointments. one with my eye doctor and one with my internist. the eye doctor said yes, indeed i do have a small burn on my eyeball but it was not bad {thankfully} and gave me some eye drops for relief. with that issue out of the way i continued on to the internist. after waiting for over an hour {and finishing a great book by Dean Koontz} my fever spiked again and the doctor ascertained that i have the flu.
so here i am with tamiflu, an antibiotic that i cannot pronounce, cough drops, ibuprofen, and a lot of water! hopefully this will blow over soon enough. i saw that we are supposed to have excellent weather this weekend. i sure would hate to be trapped in the bed all weekend!

Winter Blues

It's cold....really cold. And I'm getting cabin fever. I'm ready for Spring with warmer temps, brighter colors, and longer days. These days I am dreaming of walks in the park every evening with my husband, our pack of dogs in tow. Saturdays at the dog park, meals that involve an outdoor patio with ice cold beer, cookouts with friends {that also include ice cold beer}, weekends with the kids at the zoo. So this begs the question; Winter when will you leave?!

Spring, you are most welcome at any time! And please, stay as long as you'd like.

New Year's Day

New Year's Day was a little more busy than Tim and I had planned, but it was at our own pace which was nice. We ended up hitting the big New Year's Day sale at Dillard's for a little bit and then decided to walk around the Carriage Crossing mall for a little bit. Ya know, start the year off right with some exercise before our big meal! ;)

Speaking of our big meal....I made, black eye peas {of course}, cornbread, lima beans, smashed potatoes, and for the meat-----spicy roasted chicken legs!

New Year's Eve

We had a great New Year's Eve this year. It was just what we needed; low key and about 5 minutes from the house. We went to Lauren and Bobby's house {this is where I would normally link you back to an old post telling you who Lauren and Bobby are, but I can't do that b/c my old blog is gone. Argh!} for a low key, New Year's Eve game night. It was wonderful!

And we cannot leave out the wonderful food we had! Tim and I brought jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, green onion, sharp cheese, and wrapped in bacon with bbq sauce on top. That there in the middle is apricot jam....sends the jalapenos over the top! Just trust us!

We also brought the best cookies ever made! Not because I made them {although Tim might disagree}, but because they were made with butter, chocolate and peanut butter chips!

Bobby made the best little sandwiches I have ever had. I will have to get his recipe at some point. But I know it involved ham, swiss cheese, Sister Schubert's rolls {anything with SS rolls is amazing}, and some kind of dijon mustard concoction. Here's what they looked like:

We also had rotel and chips, spinach dip, a wonderful veggie tray, and some very yummy cheese balls w/ crackers.

As we waiting on midnight to approach we played the best game ever invented....Things! Somehow we managed to miss seeing a ball drop but we did our own little countdown and rang in the New Year with sparkling wine {grape juice for Lauren} and strawberries.

Tim and I managed to make it home around 1:30 in the pouring down rain and slept until 10:00 the next morning!

All in all it was a wonderful way to spend New Year's Eve 2010!

December 2010

The end of 2010 flew by for us. So instead of writing about every little or big thing that happened I will just share some of the pictures that I took. Hopefully I'll get better about a.) taking more pictures and b.) posting on the blog more often.
