"Acquainted with all my ways"

I have found great comfort in these words from Psalm 139, that the Lord has searched out my path and my lying down and is "acquainted with all my ways."  It is incredibly comforting to know that the God of the Universe is well acquainted with ME!  Little ole me.  My problems, issues, etc, He cares deeply about them and He is well aware of them!  Not only that, He is in control of them too. Such a peaceful thought at this time in my life.  I tend to get wrapped up in the daily flow of life's problems, issues, etc. I think I can handle the stress, the worry, the fill in the blank, on my own.  But we are called to "not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Phil 4.6)  I pray that God will give me the grace I need to make it through one day at time.

One Year Later

Our one year anniversary is coming up this weekend but unfortunately Tim and I will not be in the same city.  Therefore, we celebrated out anniversary a week early.  We had a wonderful weekend and the weather was beautiful!!
Reflecting on the last year has brought back a lot of good memories and makes me look forward to the many years ahead.  Here are some pictures from the last year of our marriage, starting with the happiest day of my life.  I LOVE YOU, HONEY!

Saturday in the Park

A few weekends ago my oldest brother, Brent, and his family were in town for a wedding.  We all got to hang out durning the day Saturday while he had a break from his wedding duties.  We all went to Shelby Farms to let the kiddos play at the new Woodlands Discovery Playground.  Needless to say the weather was beautiful and the kids had a great time playing, as did the adults.  I LOVE getting to hang out with both of my brothers at the same time.  Nothing like it.  Below are a few pictures from the day.

Resting on God

"O God, most high, most glorious, the thought of Thine infinite serenity cheers me, for I am toiling and moiling, troubled and distressed, but Thou art for ever at perfect peace.  Thy designs cause thee no fear or care of unfulfilment, they stand fast as the eternal hills. Thy power knows no bond, Thy goodness no stint. Thou bringest order out of confusion, and my defeats are Thy victories; The Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
I have come to Thee as a sinner with cares and sorrows, to leave every concern entirely to Thee, every sin calling for Christ's precious blood; revive deep spirituality in my heart; let me live near to the great Shepherd, hear His voice, know its tones, follow it's callsKeep me from deception by causing me to abide in truth, from harm by helping me to walking in the power of the Spirit. Give me intenser faith in the eternal verities, burning into me by experience the things I know; Let me never be ashamed of the truth of the gospel, that I may bear its reproach, vindicate it, see Jesus as its essence, know in it the power of the Spirit.
Lord, help me, for I am often lukewarm and chill; unbelief mars my confidence, sin makes me forget Thee. Let the weeds that grow in my soul be cut at their roots; grant me to know that I truly live only when I live to Thee, that all else is trifling. Thy presence alone can make me holy, devout, strong and happy.
Abide in me, gracious God." {Valley of Vision}

15 Years Ago Today..

Fifteen years ago today I was in an operating room in Fort Worth, TX.  I had been asleep for over 24 hours at this point and in the ICU for 18 of those hours.  Dr. Christopher Case was probably working my first pacemaker into my left shoulder.  Getting all the wires connected, waiting to hear that 1st heart beat come through my new devise.

I was 16 years old.  And now I have almost lived half my life with a pacemaker.  To be honest, it makes me smile.  The past 15 years brings many memories to mind.  Some good, some bad, some indifferent.  But all of them bring a smile to my face, because I know that God's unshakable Hand has been on my heart, on my shoulder, and on my life every single step of the way. "His heart profoundly kind, God never is before His time, and never is behind." {C.H. Spurgeon}  I have a constant, tangable reminder that God is in control of all things.  No matter what lies satan tries to tell me or what lies I try to tell myself, I am not in control.

"On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.  Trust in him at all times.  O people;  pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us." ~Psalm 62.7-8
